Multifactor Authentication Begins March 21, 2025 - Don’t delay
By Rosalind Asch-Hobeck
Effective date March 21, 2025
As an update to our February 16, 2025, blog post, the Board has notified eCase users that, starting March 21, 2025, multifactor authentication (MFA) will be required to access the Electronic Case Folder (ECF). If you have not set up the authentication process by that date, you will be unable to access the ECF.
Set up MFA
Every attorney in your firm must set up multifactor authentication (MFA) to prepare for a case, monitor the ECF, or upload documents for a hearing.
Administrators can grant access to all users within an organization or restrict access to specific individuals. Additionally, parties of interest can assign individuals to access certain cases or all cases related to that party.
To assign case access, an authorized administrator must log into a case, select "Assign Case Access" at the top of the page, and follow the instructions. The Board has emphasized that eCase administrators must add any users who are currently sharing accounts, as each eCase user in an organization is required to have their own account.
The authentication process for eCase will function similarly to OnBoard and other secure login systems, such as online banking or email verification. Users will receive a code via text message or another secure authentication method.
