Mandatory Electronic Submission of CMS-1500 Reminder
By Rosalind Asch-Hobeck
The doctors who treat your clients are a very important component in your cases. Making sure that they get paid properly is not your function, but it does help the claimant get continued care and helps keep the reports flowing.
You may wish to remind the health care providers treating your claimants that the Board will require healthcare providers to electronically submit the CMS-1500 universal medical billing form through an electronic submission partner (also known as an XML submission partner) starting August 1, 2025. Providers are encouraged to transition earlier to take advantage of benefits such as faster payments, confirmation of bill receipt, and improved processing efficiency.
Cost Offset for Providers
Providers can offset the costs associated with electronic submission by using billing code 99080. Additional details about this cost offset are available on the Board’s website: https://www.wcb.ny.gov.

Email CMS1500@wcb.ny.gov for assistance.
You can help your claimants by keeping their HCPs up to date with new Board requirements.
